⬧ Every year 30 January is celebrated as Martyr’s Day in memory of the death anniversary of Father of the Nation Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.
⬧ Born on October 02, 1869 in Porbandar, Gujarat, Gandhiji’s full name was Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.
⬧ In the year 1893, Gandhiji went to South Africa in connection with a case and there he felt deep discrimination against blacks and Indians.
⬧ He is remembered for India’s struggle for independence from the British and his policy of truth and non-violence.
⬧ Gandhiji named his entire non-violent work method as ‘Satyagraha’. For him Satyagraha meant using pure soul force against all forms of injustice, tyranny and exploitation.
⬧ Gandhiji was also a great educationist, he believed that the social, moral and economic progress of a country ultimately depended on education.
⬧ On January 30, 1948, Nathuram Godse shot and killed the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi.
⬧ Gandhiji was 78 years old at the time of his assassination, Nathuram Godse shot Gandhiji on his way to a prayer meeting at Birla House in Delhi.
⬧ Gandhi’s opponents consider Gandhiji responsible for the partition of India and the creation of Pakistan and Nathuram Godse also gave the same argument for killing Gandhiji. Nathuram Godse and co-conspirator Narayan Apte were hanged on November 15, 1949, for the assassination of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi.
⬧ On the death anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, ‘Liquor Prohibition Resolution Day’ is being organized in Madhya Pradesh.
⬧ The main objective of this event is to make the youth and all sections of the society aware of the harmful effects of alcohol and drugs.
